Figures come from the model, not from memory

Every estimate on KeelFox is inserted live from our cost model: the same numbers appear on the cost guide, in the calculator and in articles, and they update together when wages, exchange rates or benchmarks change. Writers never type our estimates by hand.

Facts about grants, tax and rules

Grants, tax rates, rebates, permits and licensing rules come only from a fact sheet we verify against official sources (government, tax authorities, regulators) and date. When a rule changes, we update the fact sheet and the pages that use it.

How articles are produced

Our news and guides are drafted with the help of AI language models working from our cost model, the fact sheet and, for news, the original report, which we name and link. Before anything is published it must pass automated checks: every money amount has to appear in the cited source or the fact sheet, every cost figure must be a live figure from our model, and every article must link the cost guides it discusses. Drafts that fail are discarded, not edited until they pass.

Cost guide pages are prepared by the cost desk from the same verified fact sheet, and each shows the data sources and the date it was last reviewed.

Independence

No contractor, manufacturer or retailer pays for a place in our figures, comparisons or articles. We do not publish sponsored articles.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to [email protected] with the page and what is wrong. We check it, correct factual errors promptly and show the updated date on the page.

What our figures are, and are not

They are estimates for a defined specification and size, shown as a typical figure and the range most homeowners pay. They are not quotes: your price depends on your home, access, the specification you choose and the contractor. Use them to plan and to check the quotes you receive.
