Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data KeelFox (keelfox.com) processes, why, and what rights you have. We have designed the site to collect as little as possible.

Who is responsible

KeelFox is published by CR LLC ("we", "us"), which is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact for anything related to privacy: [email protected].

What we collect and why

1. Page view statistics (no cookies). When you open a page we record the page address, the website you came from (domain only), the time, and a visitor code. The visitor code is a one-way hash of your IP address and browser user agent combined with a secret that changes every day. We cannot turn it back into your IP address, and it cannot link your visits across days. We do not store your IP address in our statistics. Purpose: counting visits and understanding which guides are useful. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running and improving the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: up to 24 months.

2. Quotes you choose to share. If you use the "Is my quote fair?" tool and leave the box ticked, we store the project type, country, region, size, finish level, the quoted amount and the date. We do not ask for or store your name, email, address or any contact details. Purpose: improving the accuracy of our cost estimates. Legal basis: your consent, which you give by leaving the box ticked and can refuse by unticking it. Retention: while the figure is useful for our statistics; the record cannot be linked to you.

3. Server and security logs. Our hosting and our content delivery provider process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. These logs are kept for a short time and are not used to identify you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security and operation of the site.

4. Emails you send us. If you write to us, we use your message and email address to reply. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering you. Retention: as long as needed to handle your request.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles.

Service providers

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): hosting of the website and database in the EU.
  • Cloudflare, Inc.: content delivery, security and email forwarding. Cloudflare may process data outside the EU under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

These providers act on our instructions and may not use the data for their own purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because our statistics and shared quotes cannot be linked to a person, we usually cannot find records about you in them; we will tell you if that is the case.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example in the EU/EEA the authority of your country, in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), in Australia the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), and in Canada the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we collect only the limited categories described above.

Children

The site is intended for adults planning home projects. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We will update this page when our processing changes and show the date of the last update at the top.
